Ozone hole
The Ozone hole is a whole in the ozone layer above the Antarctic in the Stratosphere. The hole was created because of ozone damaging substances from around the world being picked up by the world's wind currents and dragged to the antarctic, getting trapped there.
One of the most prevalent ozone damaging substances are CFC's or Chlorofluorocarbons they are a hazardous chemical that was used in excess from the 1930s to the 1990's. They were used in the production of many things from aerosol cans to air conditioners. They were eventually banned in 1996 because scientists realized how fast these chemicals were deteriorating the ozone layer.
